Why this tour exists
"I grew up on this island. I've watched tourists spend a week here and never once eat where we eat."
My name is May. I'm 22, I grew up in Koh Samui, and my family has been part of this island's hospitality scene my whole life. I know the breakfast stall the vendors go to before their own market opens. I know the Myanmar family who serves the most generous table on the south coast. I know the man making rum in a shed most locals have never heard of.
That meant learning which breakfast stall the vendors go to before their own market opens. Finding the Myanmar family who serves the most authentic food on the south coast. Tracking down the man making rum in a hidden garden most locals have never heard of.
Taste Samui exists because I got tired of watching visitors leave having only seen the parts built for tourists. The real Samui is messier, more generous, and far better-tasting. It just takes someone who knows where to look — and I spent three years figuring that out.
This tour is five hours of that. Small groups, real places, no rehearsed script.
